I have been working in BVSD students for the last six years as a short- and long-term substitute, student-teacher, para-educator, and most recently, 5th grade teacher at Bear Creek. I really began working with children when my husband Dan and I had our first child Cassidy 21 years ago. We have our daughter (Cassidy) and three sons (Will, Zach, and Aaron), ages 21-12 years old. I am also mom to two dogs, Quakey and Pebbles, and our classroom guinea pig, Pork Chop. I am a huge animal lover! A true Colorado native, I was born in Denver and grew up in Louisville. I attended BVSD schools (Eisenhower, Burbank, and Fairview High School). After high school, I studied at BYU-Provo where I received a bachelors and masters degrees in biology. From there, Dan and I began a 12-year period where we moved every couple of years for his job. We lived in Arlington, Virginia, Houma, Louisiana, Caracas, Venezuela, Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico, Mexico City, Mexico, and Rio de Janeiro before finally settling in Louisville in 2010. Our son Zach was born in Caracas and Aaron was born in Mexico City. I love reading and I have many favorites, but my current favorite is Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson.
